A woman who was in labour had her phone snatched while she was trying to call her husband to take her to hospital.
The pregnant woman had been walking on Leadale Road, in Stoke Newington, around 10am this morning when the thief struck.
Fortunately she did not sustain any injury and was taken to hospital by volunteer ambulance service Hatzola.
Witnesses say the suspect was on a pedal bike when they snatched the phone off the woman.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for the Met said: 'Police were called to reports of a pregnant woman having had her mobile phone snatched on Leadale Road, N16.
'Officers attended. The victim appeared physically uninjured, however, due to her condition she was taken to hospital by a private ambulance.
'Enquires into the theft of her phone are underway.'
