A suspect in the murder of Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was reportedly arrested at the Beitbridge border post that links Limpopo to Zimbabwe.
However, police denied the reports.
"The rumours that someone was arrested at Beitbridge are untrue," Brigadier Neville Malila said. "Investigations are continuing," he said.
Meanwhile, Senzo Meyiwa's father, Sam is set to return to Umlazi, Kwa-Zulu Natal empty handed after Kelly Khumalo and her family reportedly dismiss his efforts to retrieve his son's belongings.
Meyiwa Senior arrived in Johannesburg on Wednesday and was intent on visiting Kelly Khumalo's Mulbarton home which she shared with Senzo for a few months before his death.
The Meyiwa family were accompanied by a police escort and sought to collect Senzo's silver BMW X6 and red VW Golf 5.
Khumalo has been spotted driving the BMW and was previously given the Golf to get around in by her deceased beau.
The Khumalos apparently ignored the Meyiwa family who knocked on the door for a while.
It was only after the police intervened that Kelly, her sister Zandi and mother Ntombi opened and flatly refused to hand over any of Senzo belongings save for his ID.
The Star reports that Meyiwa Sr is seeking legal counsel to coerce Khumalo to hand over the cars.
Senzo's cousin, Sam Miya who is the spokesperson for the family said Khumalo was welcome at the funeral despite Meyiwa Sr's prior statement that she was not.
He said those comments were said in a moment of frustration and grief.
According to a report, Kelly told her biographer, Melinda Ferguson, that she had no intention of attending out of respect for the family.
Deceased Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa was pictured with his lover and the mother of his daughter Kelly Khumalo and her sister Zandi in his car in what is believed to be hours before his untimely passing.
Meyiwa was again captured on an Instagram video on Khumalo's Instagram account on Thursday singing along to Khumalo's new single Asine.
Meyiwa and Khumalo had been in an on and off relationship for the past two years even though he was married to Mandisa Mkhize.
Khumalo and Mkhize were embroiled in a physical altercation which saw Khumalo assault Mkhize and dent her BMW 1 Series last year.
Charges were brought against Khumalo and her sister Zandi, but later struck off the roll because Khumalo and her sister passed the court's diversion programme which includes a form of rehabilitation such as counselling or community service.
In an interview with True Love magazine, Khumalo said she was not aware Meyiwa was married when they first met. She added that they were not together because she wanted to allow Meyiwa a chance to fix things with his wife.
"Three months before I gave birth in December, I was at a place where I was ready to let him go. I loved him enough to let him go."
About their break up, Khumalo added: "One minute we'd talk and accept that we had to go our separate ways. Then later we'd realise that 'I don't want to do this' and he'd come in and out of my life. It was hard for me because I still love him, I'll love him forever."
Although Khumalo professed to starting on a clean slate without Meyiwa, they were spotted together this year.
Khumalo soon went public with their relationship once more - posting images on Instagram and appearing at public events including her album listening session about two weeks ago.
Speaking to a weekly magazine, Khumalo said she and Meyiwa were together and he was a great father to their kids.
