Grieving mum Tshidi Ramagaga-Mofokeng says her dead son visits her family and friends in their dreams.
"He tells them he's still alive," said Tshidi.
But Thami Ramagaga (19) died in hospital after a car crash on the Golden Highway, south of Johannesburg, on 4 August.
Tshidi said before his burial, three of his friends came to her Evaton house and told her a shocking story.
"They said they dreamt about Thami. He said he was alive and the body in the morgue wasn't his," said Tshidi.
Tshidi didn't think much of it but after the funeral, Tshidi says she found thousands of red ants with her son's belongings.
"In our culture, that's a sign of death but it had already happened," she said.
A few days later, Tshidi saw her son in the form of a shadow. He told her someone had his clothes and she should tell them to return them.
Thami apparently tells his mum that he's locked up and begs her to fetch him.
Tshidi said her 12-year-old son said that Thami visited him at night and told him secrets about his death.
"He's afraid to tell us the secret because it will tear the family apart," she said.
Traditional healer Mandla Mnqwazi said: "The family must find a pastor or prophet to pray for his spirit so that he can rest in peace."
