A three-inch caterpillar allegedly managed to crawl out of a man's Tesco chicken curry after nine minutes in the microwave.
Disgusted Jason Damms, 41, filmed the creepy crawly making a bid to escape but it died before getting off his plate.
Jason, from West Malling, Kent, took the evidence straight back to Tesco to make a complaint.
He said, "I could have eaten it if it had not crawled out, it has really put me off and I haven't shopped there since. It's disgusting."
Jason said it was not possible for the caterpillar to have got in after
he had bought the meal as he had only pierced the film lid before
dishing it up.
Tesco said they would freeze it and send it off for testing.
They
later sent him a letter of apology with a £15 gift card as a gesture of
goodwill after they had identified the bug as a caterpillar.
A spokesman for Tesco said: "We set ourselves very high standards for the safety and quality of our products.
"Our suppliers have conducted a full investigation and we have provided Mr Damms with a gesture of goodwill."
