A baby has been found four days after being snatched.

Two days after Nontokozo Myeza's story appeared in Daily Sun, her four-month-old baby, Esethu, was returned to her.

The baby was found in Msinga, KZN after the Katlehong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit traced the suspected child snatcher.

The 19-year-old mum told the People's Paper she will never let her baby out of her hands again.

Speaking from their home at Nguni Hostel in Vosloorus, Nontokozo said: "I'm so tired. Now I'll be able to eat and sleep again."

Yesterday, residents came to Nontokozo's house to celebrate.

The family said they were unhappy about what was done to the child.

According to them, the suspect performed rituals on Esethu, including cutting the baby's back to introduce the child to the ancestors.

Esethu's grandmother, Nikeziwe Ntombela (37), said the child smelled when they found him.

The family believes the woman stole the baby to prove to her boyfriend she had a baby, after he accused her of having an abortion.

Apparently, the boyfriend was in jail during the false pregnancy and he thought he was going to be a father.

Nontokozo said she has learnt her lesson.

She urged other young mums like herself not to trust anyone with their babies.

Police spokesman Captain Piet Rossouw said the task team worked throughout the weekend to find the baby.

"A woman was arrested and will soon appear in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court for child abduction."

Rossouw said mums must never give their babies to strangers, as they could be charged with child neglect.
