Kwaito singer Msawawa is being accused of being a crook by friends and petrol attendants.
Msawawa, real name Siboniso Dlamini, allegedly filled up his tank at a petrol station, and when it was time to pay, he allegedly produced a bank card – with no funds!
Apparently this has happened twice, at a petrol station in Hammarsdale, in KwaZulu-Natal.
As soon as the card was declined, Msawawa allegedly acted surprised.
His friend, Sanele Mhlongo, confirmed the incidents and said: "What Msawawa is doing is humiliating his own brand and everybody in the entertainment industry.
"Msawawa regularly visits Hammarsdale where he often performs.
"During the most recent incident he went to the petrol station at 9pm to put R100 worth of petrol. When he had to pay, he said he'd left his bank card at home.
"One of the petrol attendants grabbed his cellphone to make sure he wasn't off the hook," claimed Sanele.
"He's my friend, but running away from a petrol station was not on!
"The people who work at the garage know me since I'm living in the neighbourhood.
"They demanded that I pay Msawawa's expenses. This is embarrassing!" he said.
One of the petrol attendants, known as Mgodi, confirmed the incidents, saying: "We all know about Msawawa's tricks.
"He's blacklisted and no one wants to touch him."
Msawawa reportedly pleaded with Sunday Sun not to publish the story, saying: "Yes, I was in Hammasdale a fortnight ago, driving a microbus with friends.
"Please don't write that story. Let's talk. This one is going to destroy my image. I'll sort it out with those people."
In 2008 Sunday Sun reported that Msawawa allegedly used a fake credit card at a petrol station in Mogale City.
That time, cops nabbed Msawawa – and his dad had to bail him out.
