The son of kwaito king Arthur Mafokate, DJ AJ, has shocked many with his new style of performing.
When he starts his set, the South African DJ dances and then sets himself on fire and he has the scars to prove the stunt is real.
He told Daily Sun he has only done the stunt three times but was already thinking of stopping.
"My stomach is burnt and has a mark that will probably never leave me but the pain was worth it because the bookings have been coming through," he said.
"Even people who didn't know who I was beforehand know me now. I'm getting more gigs than ever before."
The DJ said he first tried the stunt on New Year's Eve when he was performing at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg.
"People lost their minds.
"I have never heard a crowd scream so much. I don't know if they were scared or thought it was cool," he said.
He said his dad, Arthur, who is the founder of 999 Music, supported what he was doing.
"But my mum is not happy about it. She worries about my safety," he said.
AJ said he had a chemical spray he put on his clothes, which made the fire last for a few minutes.
"I have gone through three pairs of jeans, so I decided to go buy cheap pants.
"The first time I did this I lost my favourite jeans," he said.
